Hicc org

What is Hicc?

The Hicc org (sometimes referred to as the Happy Incident Collective) is a loose group of artist, musicians, poets, sculptors and loonies who inspire, collaborate, criticize and promote each others work in the vain attempt to 1) improved the groups collective outpourings and 2) get noticed.

Why do we bother? In the words of Billie Piper, "because we want to, because we want to".

Where is Hicc Based? It's not really based any where (except in our heads). Hicc members are geographically distributed, who ever key sights of activity are focused around the Bournemouth, Manchester and Southampton (UK) areas to name but three.

Ok so who controls Hicc? Umm, well no one really. An idea one member has, will fed to the group to do (or not too) what the individual members like. That's why on any given project (especially music) such a numerous amount of artists may feature.

Who decides what Hicc releases / doesn't release? Hicc Quality control is by group consensus after discussion by snail mail, email and phone conversations.

What can Hicc do for me? We don't know until you ask. There's no need to be shy now. do you want one of your tracks remixed, We love and re-arranging other peoples work. You want some art work? we can probably help you their as well. Want to collaborate or share your skills? there's always room for more.

Please contact us on either on Andy N (aen1mpo@yahoo.co.uk) or Keith Hicc (keith_hic@tiscali.co.uk)

We don't in reality have a history. We essentially sought to make music that mattered to us and fuck everybody else. If anyone chose to listen fine, if not then listen to something else. An album was recorded but never released, a demo sent to Fat Cat Records. We heard nothing for about a...

Distance was formed in 2005 by Andy N and Tony and the bulk off this recording was recorded over one day in Wika's house during a rainy afternoon at the end off 2005. The music wrote itself. Distance is for fans of Flying Saucer Attack, Bardo Pond or people who like Post Rock where the form outstrips the music. This is a Hicc Release.

Orginally designed by Solypsis but being finished off by Andy N (From 'Distance', 'M.A.N.', 'DIH', 'DIH and friends @ Christmas' etc).. Let's talk about Sex James orginally posted in the forum - his original plans for it which I think are a great template for the comp are: 'This will be akin to an audio Kinsey report — each track being the artist's interpretation of what is sexy, sexual or…whatever. the intent isn't necessarily to be graphic or shocking, but to simply show 20+ versions of...

Distance - Off the Cuff Volume 1 'Off the Cuff' is the first in a series of albums by Distance and also to follow in the future by other Hicc Records (including DIH, M.A.N. etc) which highlight the band's ability to remix and in some cases de-contrast other artists altogether. Some of these tracks will have been released previously, some of them haven't but all certainly in the case of 'Distance' for example their ability to change frequently a original song to such a degree it is impossible to...

54_65_555 – The Back Ground It was about 2001 and Andy told me that Stewart of 555 Records (of Leeds/Philadelphia/Arizona) was collecting tracks for the 55th album on the label. To mark such a special point in the labels life he had decided that the record should have 55 tracks, each track being only 1 min and 5 seconds long (= 65 seconds). To do our part we scoured the Hicc archives (1994-2001) and collected together 54 tracks (and parts of tracks) to meet this criteria. Why 54 and not 55?...

DIH and friends -Christmas 2003 is the 2nd in the annual Christmas cut and paste collection by DIH with a number of friends adding additional contributions... These series of albums are not serious in contrast to the usual DIH albums, often seeing the band experiment with different forms and inviting friends in to add additional music and vocals (often un-planned) with mixing with as much stuff as they can borrow and use to create a album for people who don't really like Christmas but wish to...

Brighton-based band AUGUST are a relatively new phenomenon, coming together in mid-2005 to create one of the most exciting and original sounds around. Essentially a folk-rock band, AUGUST have taken folk's guitars and storytelling lyrics and made it their own, blending this with elements of funk, soul/mowtown and alternative rock. At times fast and funky, at others heartbreakingly soulful and atmospheric, AUGUST have a sound that is uniquely their own. To fully compliment the music, AUGUST are...
